YEAR 2020: A YEAR TO REVIEW
WHAT’S UP HONEYS! WHAT’S GOING ON?!?
I hope you had a great Christmas day!
WOW, WOW WOW!!! This year aka The 2020 vision year was definitely NOT what we expected and nearly what we signed up for! The Covid-19 virus came in like a SAVAGE and blurrrrrrrrrred completely our vision for basically the whole year!
Year 2020 Vision Meme…
It was a tough year for most of us. But it’s alright because we are alive and we have survived 9.5 months of social lockdown and slowly decreased our body oxygen levels by wearing the mask.
Also, it’s been so overwhelming with all the other things that happened in 2020, from losing Kobe Bryant and George Floyd, to the Presidential Election and everything else in between. We should give ourselves a round of applause for making it through the year in one piece!
I think now we can rename 2020, year of The Lockdown featuring Masquerade Ball 😷 (where everybody wear their masks in fear of getting fine!).
As we are counting down the last days before the New Year 2021, have you taken the time to reflect on the current year? Or are you too in a hurry to press the skip button to 2021 in hope that 2020 can be quickly erased and forgotten?
So End of Year Reflection ✨ anyone?
I think it’s so important to take the time to do some reflection on your current life (self-reflection on your past and current circumstances, problems, experiences, hardship, good times, happy times, in your career, on your current friendships, relationships, situationships 👀….).
Do you take the time to Reflect on the good and the bad?
Since most situations are not all good or all bad, but a mix of both, it’s always good to evaluate and reevaluate them so you get to be grateful and joyful for what brought happiness to your life and learn the lessons from your mistakes so you don’t repeat them again.
My biggest lesson this year is that I need to listen and trust my inner voice ✨
Life changes and personal growth first come from awareness. Every consequence comes from each action taken. As a result, recognize the actions for each consequence. Question yourself.
- Why did this happen?
- How did I get here?
- What did I say or not say?
- Why did I do this?
- What was I thinking?
- How was I feeling?
- How could I have avoided this?
- What can I do next time around?
Then, you’ll know and understand what to keep, change, or adjust to reduce adversity and increase the joyful times. Needless to say, you can be in control of everything! Sometimes sh*t just happens!
Don’t be too hard on yourself (note to self). We aren’t bad people, yet sometimes having good intentions is not good enough and doesn’t guarantee a good ending.
You gotta make that choice for yourself though. Flourishing is a choice. Only you can bring forth the things you desire into your life. It won’t magically fall on your lap honey.
Self-reflection is also a great tool for finding yourself and reconnect with yourself. “Yourself” is continuously changing and you always need to stay connected with it.
Self-reflection is very challenging and it’s an ongoing process but also full of REWARDS.
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” – Albert Einstein
So To Get Back To 2020…
As much as 2020 was unforeseen, we can’t just say it was canceled and it was just an overall bad year.
It’s so easy to dwell on what is hard and painful because things didn’t go our way.
Let’s not focus solely on the “bad” of 2020 as it has brought something very valuable to any human being on this planet… TIME for ourselves!
LET’S START THE NEW YEAR ON A POSITIVE NOTE!
1. BE GRATEFUL.
It’s easy to FORGET to be grateful and thankful for EVERYTHING we already have since we are too preoccupied and worried about how and when we are going to received and be blessed with what we desire the most.
If you are healthy, have food, and have somewhere to live, you should be beyond grateful every morning. Your next day is not promised.
2. STAY ACTIVE.
We were not made to be couch-potatoes even though Netflix is telling us otherwise.
Get up and move that body! Whatever it is, keep moving! Dance, stretch, and/or do yoga.
I personally stretch during my Netflix sessions lol.
No gym?! No problemo! There are tons of home workouts on Youtube for FREE!
STOP WITH ALL YOUR EXCUSES!
Your body, your emotions, and your psyche will thank you later! #DOPAMINE
Of course, eating healthy and staying hydrated are as important as staying active.
3. HAVE A ROUTINE.
You absolutely need a routine! It’s a great way to stay busy and be productive while using your time wisely. You can’t accomplish anything in life without some type of structure.
Try and see what works for you!
For example, I like to meditate in the morning when I wake up and read and journal in the evening. Now that I know what works for me, I can accomplish more things in one day without feeling like it’s a chore.
Also, it’s such a good moment to integrate new and good habits.
Try a 30-day challenge. Write it down on a piece of paper and add a check ✔️ every day you achieve that particular habit you want to integrate into your desire lifestyle.
4. DO WHAT YOU LOVE.
You know all those things you couldn’t do because you were too busy??? What’s your excuse now? Exactly, you ain’t got NONE!!
Yea, it sucks that we do have some restrictions to what we can and cannot do but with all the online resources we have, you can find a way to do what you’re passionate about. Even if it’s starting by reading a book about what you’re into, or listen to a video or podcast. Don’t procrastinate!
CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS!
5. KEEP LEARNING.
Here’s some reasons why you need to keep learning:
- You will never know everything
- Things and data changes
- For your personal development: you change
- It stimulates neurons in the brain and nourishes your mind
- It helps you develop new skills

6. STAY CONNECTED.
Imagine we didn’t have the fancy technology we have today to stay in touch with our family and friends?
There was a time when you needed a pigeon to send your letter to your recipient. Now it’s instant! Thank God for all the social media platforms!
That you have an extroverted or introverted personality, we all need quality connections and conversations with loved ones. It’s very important to connect with people.
SO WHAT’S NEXT…?
We are entering 2021 with so much uncertainty but life itself is full of uncertainties. As much as we plan for the future, there’s always going to be some roadblocks. But don’t let it stop you from creating the life you want because the life you want is up to you! You are the designer of your life.
All we can do is the best that we can with what we have right now. SO, START TODAY!
- Create a vision board for 2021 (literally, create the vision you want for your life)
- Write down your goals and intentions (even the big and crazy ones)
- Try something new (something you always wanted to try)
- Read a book (you know that book you were curious about)
- Mediate for 5-10 minutes (quiet your mind and let go of the worries)
- State positive affirmations in the mirror (with eye contact)
- Take a warm bath (everybody needs self-care)
- Call a dear friend (tell them how much you appreciate them)
- Reorganize your stuff (a little merchandising can transform your place)
- Move your body! (put some music and twerk)
- Journal (it helps express your feelings and let them out)
- Start your business (online business, baby)
- BE THANKFUL, GRATEFUL & STAY BLESSED!
No matter what’s going on right now… Life is BEAUTIFUL!
I hope you enjoy this quick year 2020 recap and mini Life Capsule post.
We will never forget you nevertheless you won’t be missed!
